Paul provides sound and music – and other technical - support for all types of live performance. In addition, he is a sound artist, composes electronic music and performs as a musician using no-input mixing techniques. Paul has a 10-year association with the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, being the sound (and video) engineer on numerous projects, touring nationally and internationally. In a new departure, he entered 2007 as Production Manager for SJDC’s "Faultline" and ended it as music editor for "The Dancers' Cut". Since 1996, he has worked with soprano Frances M. Lynch on a number of projects, culminating in a series of 4 programmes under the global title "She". Since premiering in Romania in 2004, they have been performed across the UK, and in Mexico and Norway. He was sound, video and lighting designer on Electric Voice Theatre’s "Abraham On Trial" which premiered at The Junction in Cambridge in May 2005 and has recently acted as technical consultant for "Hidden Voices" by Post Operative Productions at BAC. They hope that their latest project, "The Baghdad Monologue" by Alejandro Vinao, will tour during 2008. Over the past year, Paul has toured to Moscow and Bermuda with Red Priest’s "Red Hot Baroque", a revolutionary staging for baroque music using lighting, video, sound effects and amplified sound. In the theatre world, he has continued to work with Howard Barker and the Wrestling School on "The Seduction of Almighty God". And as usual, he spent the summer months looking after sound systems at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh. Since being a participant of m&de 2006, Paul has collaborated with fellow exchange member Imogene Newland setting fire to an upright piano on a recreation of Piano Burning and made electro-acoustic soundtracks for "attempted play 1" and "Fallen" for disrepaired baby grand piano and sound treatment. (further details: http://www.imogene-newland.co.uk/fallen.php) He is worried about his reputation as he has just returned from Oslo where he sawed the back off a cello for Maja Bugge. Paul is currently planning a production of "Lines of Desire" with m&de 2007 participants Ellie Howitt and Kate Ashman to feature dance, video, live drawing and electronic sound.
