East Devon Liberal Democrats

East Devon is Liberal Democrat territory. At the previous 3 general elections we have polled 30% and increased our share of the vote. With the revised boundaries we aim to break through 45% at this election, and the next, and the next. It may also be that a close general election will lead to a rerun quite soon!

We will do this with hard work, high visibility and a concentration on local concerns - the development of SkyPark and Cranbrook, relations with Exeter City and the wider Devon, the future of Rolle College, rural transport, enhancing the environment, eating a higher percentage of locally grown produce, and respecting and enjoying the spectacular but fragile coastline.

We recognise that communities want to be different, cities and villages are NOT the same and broad generalised national platitudes do not make a vibrant local community. We pledge to enable local communities to thrive, partner with them to ensure the range of central and local government support necessary, and to deliver fair, effective policies to nurture and develop individuality, enterprise and local identity. All of this within the sensible bounds of the planet's ability to support us and all the other species we cherish.
