Food and Drink Festival in DevonCelebrating Devon’s Food and DrinkDevon County Council is once again sponsoring Devon’s Celebration of Food, which is now in its ninth year. The UK’s biggest food festival is due to be launched at the Combe House Hotel near Honiton on 1st October. With 85 events planned across the county, from ‘Eat out for £10’ offers, celebrity Chef demonstrations, fine dining, foraging and special offers, there is plenty for foodies across the county whatever their budget. Councillor William Mumford, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Strategic Planning, said: “Devon County Council is fully committed to the county’s food and drink industry, it is one of the jewels in our economy supporting thousands of jobs and safeguarding our natural environment. “The Council is proud of its work promoting the food and drink industry through encouraging residents and visitors to buy locally as well as supporting local business with training and advice. We are pleased to be sponsoring Devon Celebration of Food for the 3rd year and showcasing the best of local produce.” This year the Dartmouth Food Festival has joined the celebration where a hundred exhibitors will be showcasing their products. There will also be workshops and demonstrations across the four day event which is running from the 20th – 24th October. Other events across Devon include the Exmoor Food Festival, a Junior Pizza making challenge and a Homemade cake bonanza. Pudding Clubs, Strictly dinner dances and a Boots and Beer festival offer something a bit different along with a cup cake masterclass and reinvented army cuisine from World War II.
