4 Top Tips to Increase Traffic to your Website

With the fast paced movement in the digital marketing industry, we are finding that businesses are increasing their investment in this area and therefore it has become even more important for smaller businesses with lower budgets to remain competitive and ensure that they appear in the top-10 search results for their target keywords for maximum traffic.

Some of the top tips that will help you to do this with minimal spend are highlighted below:

1) Facebook marketing

Get on Facebook!! It’s free, and has millions of people already signed onto the network that can be targeted in a variety of different forms. Ensure that you have a customised business page on Facebook, give people incentive to become a fan of your page, build up your fan base with promotions and competitions. Promote new products and ask for feedback – incentivise!!!

2) Get Twittering!

If your business doesn’t already have an account on Twitter, then make one and start tweeting. Building up a base of followers can be hugely beneficial for your brand. Provide regular informative tweets to converse and engage, and you will slowly start to see the benefits of this. Use it for promotions and competitions so that your followers can re-tweet and spread the word about your brand. Keep it fresh and unique.

3) Know your keywords!

Knowing the keywords that people use to find your site, and more importantly convert, is extremely important. If you don’t know what people are searching for, you can’t optimise your site for those terms to help your customers find you faster. Traffic is good, but converting traffic is better!

4) Get linked and spread the word!

Links are very important, keyword targeted links are better because they indicate to search engines the relevance of your site for those key phrases. Links also indicate popularity, the more links you have pointing to your site, the more popular your site is perceived to be in the eyes of search engines. There are some extremely good directories out there that don’t cost the earth. One example is this directory (Stairway to Devon).

Finally, ensure that your site is visually appealing, eye catching and “sticky”. There are so many useful widgets that you can add to your site for interaction purposes such as various calculator, so for travel sites, a currency convertor, and with the help of a software development company this can be done fairly easily.
